Project description

To what extent do empirical results find their way to the legislation process? Do empirical insights play a role in parliamentary debates and in what ways? Two legislative processes on subjects that were frequently empirically researched are analysed in depth: the bill on the right of victims to speak at criminal justice proceedings and the bill on organ donation, based on presumed consent. In addition, MP's and legislative lawyers will be interviewed about the role empirical research findings actually played in these legislation projects.

This project will be carried out by C-LAB researcher Nienke Doornbos during her visiting fellowship at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) together with Marijke Malsch and Nienke Elbers (both: NSCR).
